Weekend Events
Hope you had a great weekend. Brian and I spent the day together yesterday, I was in serious need of some time with him. I will say that the one complaint I have is that we only get to see each other once a week, sometimes twice a week if he happens to bring a patient into the ER. So, spending time together is definitely on my "to-do" list all the time.
So, Sunday.... we saw Pineapple Express. It was alright. It was your typical Seth Rogan 'lots of pot' funny movie. It had its funny parts, but you might want to just hold out and wait until it comes out on TV. It wasn't anything fantastic. Seeing it once is enough, so don't expect me to be buying it when it comes out on DVD.
After the movie we headedto Norman to play basketball with Brian's friend, James. I'm not very coordinated and I don't particularly enjoy basktball. We played for about 2 hours. I was hot, tired and sweaty. Gross.
Finally, we stopped at Wal-Mart, picked up some Smirnoff and went back to his place to relax and watch another movie (this time, I picked). I learned that he gives AMAZING back rubs, so I'll be taking advantage of that more often. *ha ha*

New Stuff....
I've gotten some new stuff lately and thought I'd give you a little peek....
This beauty came from the Cloverleaf. Isn't is precious? The vintage roses are sooo pretty. My National Registry certificate. SOOO proud of this! It will soo be hanging on my wall.
A sweet little gift from the wonderful Natalie Hansen! "Sooner Bella"
Look at what I made today! I painted the canvas, made the flowers and the flower pot out of scraps added some pom fringe and Voila!

Feelin' the Burn
Another day of workouts yesterday and today I can officially say that I am sore. I fought a good fight with the weight machine, but he won.
My pecs are sore. My biceps are sore. I hurt.
My aunt and uncle were in town yesterday and spent the night, but left early this morning. We had a nice time seeing them and they'll be here on their way back through next week. We ordered pizza ( a nice post-workout dinner, don't-cha think?) Then the ladies went to Hobby Lobby and back home to watch the Olympics.
I think Brian and I are playing basketball today and then maybe watching a movie. He's the BEST person to watch movies with. He's apartment hunting today with his friend Matt. So, maybe they'll find something good.
It's 12:42 and I'm just now crawling out of bed and functioning for the day. I should go get ready.

The Day After...
Surprisingly enough, I'm not the least bit sore from my workout yesterday. Crazy. I'm looking forward to workout #2 tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, my favorite Aunt and Uncle are coming. Todd and Cindy live in Texas and they're passing through on their way to South Dakota. Then they'll be back again on their way back to Texas.
Last night Brian and I watched "O Brother Where Art Thou" and I loved it. It was my first time seeing it. I love that it is loosely based on The Odyssey, which is one of my favorite works of literature.

Training: Day 1
Started training today with my friends Cary and Kathy. Cary is a master work out guy. I did several exercises to build my upper body strength. I feel great right now, but tomorrow I'm sure I'll be wanting to chop off my arms. Ha ha.
I went back by the physical therapist's office today to talk about lifting techniques with him. He was really helpful. He even said I could lift the weights to waist height, then put them on a chair and reposition my hands and lift from my waist up to the 48" mark. Why didn't you tell me that on Thursday? Punk.
I'm going to Brian's tonight to watch movies with him. I saw him briefly yesterday. I stopped by the Moore station to surprise him with a Mt. Dew. He's so sweet. I hate that we don't get to see eachother more often, but with his work schedule and my work schedule right now, it's not working. The good news is that for a while I'll have Mondays off so we can spend those days together.
Better get going, I'm still in my work out clothes. I'm debating on if I want to look nice for movie night or if I'm just going to go over to his place in my work out clothes. Hmmm....decisions, decisions.

Workin' Out
Good morning. Happy Sunday!
Got some news about my job on Friday. I won't be in the September academy, but I'll be in the October one if I pass my physical. I went to the physical therapist's office on Thursday to take the physical tests. Jumping, climbing, pushing, pulling, gripping, etc. I did great....except for one little skill.
Lifting. The last skill is lifting a milk crate with 85lbs of weights in it 48". Keep in mind that I'm 5'3". Not the tallest of people. 48" comes up to my armpits. I got it almost there, but not quite. So, my job called me back and said that I didn't meet the physical requirements for the job. I was so upset. I called Brian at work crying. I've loaded people unto ambulances before. I can do this. I know I can.
So, the woman called me back and told me that I could re-do that portion of the test in a month and if I pass it, then I'll be in the October academy. So, between now and the 2nd week in September I am on a mission to lift those weights.
We went to my neighbor's house last night to grill out and have drinks by the pool while we watched the Olympics. (They have an amazing back yard patio area with 2 flat screens, fans, a bar, etc. AWESOME). They asked me if I had tested yet and how that was going. I told them about the lifting part. Cary said, "I can get you there. Come work out with me." Then he brings me to this other room in his house and it's a FULL gym. Treadmill. Weights. and a ton of other machines that I have no idea how to even use. So, I'm putting my hopes and dreams for being an EMT into Cary's hands and I'm trusting that he'll get me where I need to be to kick ass. We're going to start tomorrow and I am so excited.
That's pretty much it for news with me. I have to work this afternoon from 4p-2a. So, I'm on a mission to stay in my pajamas all day until I have to get ready for work. Nice, huh?
Enjoy!

Lookie here...
1. Link the person who tagged you.

Okay, here goes...
--I have an irrational fear of large things hanging over my head. I can't go to aerospace museums where there are space things over my head. Or when the fair used to have the airplaces on those giant concrete pedestals and you could walk under them. No no no way.
--I have never eaten seafood. It looks weird. It smells weird. No thanks.
--I love cleaning but only if I get to use Pine Sol. There's just something about that sent that makes me WANT to clean.
--I get ultra peeved when people mix up their/there/they're and to/too/two. Seriously. Didn't you learn that in 3rd grade?
--I love pretty pens. The finer the better.
--I want a ridiculously large amount of children. 5? 6? 7? Maybe.
Hmmm....who to tag next? Kim Walker! You're it!

Update
I got the job.
Without naming names....I now work for the largest ambulance service in Oklahoma. *wink wink*
I start the Academy on September 2nd. It will last about a month. We'll run codes, protocols, learn the radio, geography and street mapping and how to drive the ambulance. Whee! I am so excited.
I put in my 2 weeks at the hospital last night and I am so ready to start my new job!
My friend Jason who was in my Basic class with me got hired too, so now I'll know someone else in the academy.

Bitten by the Craftin' bug...
Had a tiny bit of free time this weekend, so I managed to make a few goodies. Tags, teal cardstock, Twinkle Type, Prima flowers and pom fringe make this banner super sweet. I plan on putting this on a ribbon, but for now, it's at home on my bulletin board. Notice those darling buttons? I had a few spare thumbtacks around here, so used Diamond Glaze to adhere them and they make the cutest push pins.
Another one of my layouts from the EMT class. I should explain the Mini Van Mafia to you. Since we were the only 4 girls in the class, we hung out a lot. We'd go out for lunch and we'd take Val's van. So, all the boys in class were piling into their trucks and the 4 of us would get in the van and go to lunch. So, we nicknamed ourselves the Mini Van Mafia.
No picture on this page yet, but it's one of my favs. I'm all about COLOR right now. Bright colors. Pink. Teal. Green. Black and White. Love love love.

Does it get any better?
My friend Natalie from Life is a Collage http://nataliehansen.typepad.com/lifeisacollage/ chose my number and I won one of her beautiful "bella" charms.
Since I'm a huge OU fan, I chose "Sooner Bella" as my Bella name. Fitting huh? I will admit, I was torn between "Sooner Bella" and "EMT Bella" now that I'm officially an EMT now.
Not much else planned for the weekend. I need to clean up around here. With all the studying I did these past 2 weeks, I let my cleaning go. So, hopefully I can get back on track.
I also filled out a few applications last night. Let's see if I can work on an ambulance now....*wink*

Nervous Nancy
I'm so nervous I can barely stand it. I took my EMT test today and it was HARD. Wicked wicked hard. I feel really unsure about it. I'm just praying and praying that I passed it. I'll be so sad if I didn't pass. I studied my booty off and for me not to pass would suck really bad.
I called Brian afterwards and told him all about it. He kept saying "I'm sure it's fine. You did fine." Yea. We'll see.
I'm not a patient person. I ha te waiting. It's agonizing for me. But most of all, I will be so embarrassed if I didn't pass.
So, if you're the praying type, I could use some happy thoughts and prayers.
I'll let you know what happens.

New Layouts
*gasp* It's seriously been forever since I've had time to scrap. Well, with my 3 weeks off from school I've had a little bit of free time to do some scrappin and boy let me tell you, it has been SOOO nice! I've bought a new toy, the Fiskars scallop border punch. It is awesome.
First up, my most favorite picture of me and Brian. Black cardstock, pink scalloped paper, green HS flower, mini clock, and a "2" Twinkle Type letter. I plan on adding some journaling underneath the photo, just not sure what I want it to say yet.
Close up of the clock and the glittered "2".
I took a TON of pictures from my EMT class. This is from the day we dressed up in the moulage (fake wounds) and had to treat each other. Very fun times!
I'm loving the way I did the title at the bottom. Offset slightly with uppercase and lowercase letters and a few swirl rubons for decoration. Plus, did you notice the scallops? Yup, I'm officially obsessed.

It's been 17 days and I'm still sick. I finally went to the doctor again yesterday. You know what? I tested positive for Mono. Yup. I'm sick. Boo! *hiss*
I immediately called Brian to inform him that he is now a carrier of mono. *giggles* Poor guy. As soon as I told him he said, "You know, I do have a scratchy throat and I feel mucous-y". Mucous-y - my new favorite word. Then we proceeded to have a 5 minute conversation on the color and consistency of mucous and what illness that can indicate. See? That's why I like him. You could only have that kind of conversation with someone else who works in the medical field. I don't think your lawyer/accountant/banker/engineer boyfriend would want to hear you talk about mucous. Ha ha ha.
I'm taking my EMT test on Thursday and I am SO excited for it. I'll find out Friday if I passed. I've taken about a million practice tests online and I am READY. Then, I'm going to apply for some EMS jobs around here. That's the plan anyway.
If I can ever get over this darn mono. Seriously. It's kicking my butt right now. Mono - 1 Holly - 0.
