Good Bye 2007

Whew! What a year it has been! Seriously! Lots of new experiences and new friends. My, my, my how my life has changed this year.

Back at OU. History major. Working at the Paper Crown. Dating more. Getting along with my sister. New taste in music. Interested in politics. Working in the ER. Drinking more green tea. Being more creative. Still wanting to be a teacher. Appreciating my family. Trying new things. Reading.

"May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human & enough hope to make you happy."

Happy 2008!!

Christmas Pictures

Finally! Can you tell that I just figured out how to upload pictures to my new laptop?

My mom is the BEST present wrapper. Seriously, she wraps so beautifully. This year, it was my mission to make my presents prettier than hers, so this was my attempt. Not too shabby if you ask me.

My sister on Christmas morning. (and our dog, Cricket)

Me, I was still in sleep mode, hence why I look terrible.
One of my most favorite Christmas gifts, my GPS for my SUV! love. love. love.

Birthday Pictures

Pictures from my birthday party! The Big 23!

My sister never bakes. She doesn't know how, but she made me these star shaped cupcakes. They were SO yummy! Thanks Whitney!
My bestest friends! (Leslie, Jessica, Me and my sister)
Me and my friend Nathan. He's SO tall. (Well, I'm 5'3", so everyone looks tall compared to me!)
Me and my sister getting drinks at Brothers.

Happy Saturday

Went out with Brett last night (the graphic designer). He's pretty cool. We went out for sushi (this was my first sushi experience) and let me just say that I am NOT a fan. Totally disgusting. No no no no no. Sushi is definitely not for me. I'm not a fish/crab/lobster/shrimp seafood eating person.

I'm getting my hair highlited and trimmed today and boy am I in need of it. Seriously.

One of my most facorite places right now.... http://flickr.com/groups/facesinplaces/pool/

I'll be spending tonight at work in the ER....lots of fun....oh boy!

12.25.2007

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! Ours was spent at home, just the 4 of us (although my cousin Jacob stopped by for a few hours).

What topped my Christmas list this year? A KitchenAid Artisan mixer, a GPS for my car, kitchen stuff, a new paper trimmer, DVD's (Hairspray, Super Bad, The Holiday) clothes, sheets for my bed, new cookie sheets and baking stuff, Clinique makeup, and a garage door opener. I know a garage door opener sounds weird, but trust me, it sucks really bad when it's pouring down rain and you have to get out of the car to type the code in the keypad, then run back to the car and drive in.

We did a non-traditional Christmas meal today. We were turkeyed and hammed out from Thanksgiving, so we did a brisket, scallopped potatoes, squash casserole, and I made my wonderful sweet glazed carrots, plus my mom made rolls. Yum-O!

I'm looking forward to staying home tomorrow and "recovering" after another exciting Christmas. I'm working in the ER tomorrow night, so I'll need a good, long nap tomorrow before I go in.

Be Merry!

Running Out Of Time!

2 days left! Oh my!! I still have so much to do! This is what I get for waiting until the very last minute! Grrr! I got a few things for my sister yesterday, so today I need to pick up a few more things for my mom and my dad. Geez! I'm running around in panic mode!

My date last night was great. He's a really fun guy. We had a few drinks and then went to his place and made dinner and watched a few movies. (He can cook!)

Have I mentioned that I hate wrapping presents? Because I do. I hate hate hate it. Yucky, no fun! But this year, I'm determined to have the prettiest presents under the tree be from me, so I should get going.

Take care!

XOXO

Just a Few Things....

As I was looking at my blog, I realized I haven't posted any pictures in FOREVER. I can explain! I got a new laptop and I haven't moved all my stuff over, so I only have a small sampling of my stuff. I decided to go ahead and post some pictures of things I've made this year, some have been posted on here already this year, some are new, but either way, I just needed to have some visual stimulation on here. I'm still trying to figure out how to get my printer hooked up with this laptop....grrr!

Using the "Love, Elsie" Lola line - perfect for my trip to Vegas! This is one of my favorite layouts. It's so bright and cheerful. Love it!

My dad (second from the right) and his brothers. We call these their "Waldo" shirts.

What a find! After taking Kim Hayne's Vintage window class last year, I was on a mission to find more vintage windows. This year I made one for Meaghan's sister, Julie and made another one for my Aunt Lauri. I still have the two with the arches on top and the big one with 8 windows.

My window from Kim Hayne's class. I think it's my favorite thing I've EVER made. I have it hanging in my room and I get comments on it all the time when people come over.

Me. I cropped the rest of the fam out of this, everyone seemed to be doing their own thing and I'm the only one looking at the camera. *go figure!* This was taken a few weeks ago behind our house down by the creek. My mom, sister and I all have on our OU hoodies (since we go/went to school there) and my dad has on a Nebraska sweatshirt. I'll see if I can get more pictures moved over today and maybe I can post some more of the family pictures.

I have so many more pictures to post that I've been promising! Pictures from my birthday, pictures of a few of my birthday treats, my charming new purse, and I want to take a few holiday shots from around my house.

I'm shopping with Corrine today and I have another date tonight, so I better run!

10 Things About Me...

Someone sent me one of those MySpace surveys, but since most of you don't have MySpace, I thought I would repost it over here.

So here goes, ten things about me.....

  • When I'm expecting a phone call or a text message I will carry my phone around and check it a million times. I'm a total spaz. I can't just be patient and wait.
  • If I like a song, I can listen to it a gazillion times in a row. Right now I'm listening to "Snow Hey Oh" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
  • I only like the pink and the red Starburst candy.
  • I'm 23, and I still eat fruit snacks.
  • I love old buttons, lace, trim
  • I can't say no to an estate sale.
  • I make lists. I'm an obsessive list maker.
  • I can not eat canned fruit.
  • The iPod at The Paper Crown has a lot of Rod Stewart and Paul Simon songs on it. So, after working there for almost a year, Rod Stewart makes me want to rip my ears off.
  • I love things that smell "old". You know what I'm talking about! Old books, anything vintage, that old attic smell.

Well, there ya go. Ten things (some of you) didn't know about me.

Birthday Blessings

Thank you so much to all of my fantastic friends who came to my 1st birthday party last night. I had such a good time with everyone. Some came for dinner and cupcakes, while other brave souls came on the birthday bar hop (ha ha) and helped me on my mission to collect as many free birthday shirts from various campus corner eateries and pubs. (The Mont, Brothers, O'Connell's, 747, Louie's, Logans, just to name a few!)

Party #2 will be tonight, my REAL birthday and should be equally as fun!

Pictures will be posted soon!

12.19.2007

Counting it down...

I turn 23 on Friday. Birthday part #1 is tomorrow night. I'm kinda excited about it. *whee!* I've got some pretty pretty new shoes to wear for my par-tay and I'm so excited about seeing my girlfriends! Yay!

I got a new laptop yesterday so I'm busy customizing it for me. It's got a 17" screen. It feels so much BIGGER than my old laptop!

Oh, I got the more gorgeous purse ever today! I'll post pictures later.

12.17.2007

Clash of the Choirs

Did anyone watch Clash of the Choirs tonight? Holy cow! I loved every single minute of it. Go VOTE for the Oklahoma City choir led by Blake Shelton! Vote Vote Vote!

12.15.2007

*yawn*

I can't sleep....don't you just hate that?

12.11.2007

welcome to my world

Just a few pictures from around my place with this crazy winter weather.

My back yard. We own most of those trees. They're down by the creek. When you're outside you just hear them snap and the ice shatters onto the ground. It sounds super creepy!
My poor poor pansies. Look at them all frozen in time.
Our iron weiner dog. He looks a little cold, don'tcha think?
The porch light.
One final look at the back yard. Since I took this picture one of the huge branches fell and is laying in the garden now.

Snow Day

....well...kinda.

Finals week is here finally! Wow. Where has the semester gone? Seriously. I remember just starting class this fall and now it's OVER! Woo hoo! Party time!

We've also been hit with a winter storm (I'm not gonna lie, I secretly wanted finals week to be cancelled) but OU only closed yesterday when I had NO finals. Why, why, why couldn't OU be closed today? I've got 2 finals today, Human Geography at 8:00am and Western Civ at 10:30. Boo. No fun.

We lost power from 3:00 to about 9:15 last night. We had lots of candles and the fireplace going so it wasn't too bad. But you don't realize how much you rely on electricity. We played 2 games of scrabble (I'm a horrible scrabble player) and made some Jiffy Pop on our gas stove. Mmm, Jiffy Pop is SO yummy!

Okay, off to school. Say a little prayer for me.

12.09.2007

Sassy Little Punk

Whew. Work was the BEST last night. Seriously. I had a noon-midnight shift and it was a total cupcake shift. We never had more than 5 patients at a time and we got ALL of the easy cases. I only admitted 2 people. Brilliant. Love it! Plus, I got to work with a really fun doctor. He's seriously as cute as a button and we do crossword puzzles together. Ahh, good times. He called me a "Sassy Little Punk". I'm flattered that I have a nickname. Last night was also our ER Christmas party. The party was at StepBrothers in Norman, but since some of us had to work we didn't all get to go, but we had the BEST mexican food catered and it was de-lish!

I'm pretty much iced in today. Perfect day to create some "stuff" today, don't ya think? I've got so many Christmas ideas rushing through my head, but now I just need to DO them. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do that today.

Gotta go stay warm!

12.08.2007

If you like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain....

Summer time! Please come back! I'd love nothing more than warm nights and a pina colada or strawberry daiquiri in each hand while I bask in the sunshine on the patio. But for now, I'll settle for frost on the windshield in the mornings and a latte in my hands while I cuddle with someone special.

Where did yesterday go? Seriously. I worked Thursday in the ER and I slept all day yesterday. Around 7 I went to Wes' and we fell asleep watching "A Lot Like Love" with Amanda Peet and Ashton Kutcher. We love that movie.

I'm running a few errands with my mom today and then I'm working again tonight.

(Kim Walker, you need to call me!)

12.06.2007

Cold day!

What a slacker I've become. Seriously. What's up with me? Blame it on finals, Dead Week, and lots of calls from the ER asking me to come in, plus a few dates here and there.

Work is still good. I acutally have to work tonight from 7p-7a and I'm praying for a decent shift. Just enough to stay busy, but not feel overwhelmed. As always, I'll be bringing a few magazines and study guides to keep myself entertained in the event that we're not so busy.

Today is my last day of Geography Lab. I'll miss my TA, he's this really cool Indian guy named Muhammed. I thought he hated me at the beginning of the semester, but we've actually gotten to be good friends. Plus, my lab group in Geography is pretty great too. We go to lunch together every Thursday, so I'm definitely going to miss them.

Finals are next week and I'm attempting to mentally prepare for them. I've got 2 on Tuesday, 1 on Wednesday and 1 on Friday. Wish me luck and semd some prayers my way, pretty please.

Hmm, what else? My birthday is 2 weeks from tomorrow! Wow. 23. I feel really old, even though I know 23 is young, but that means I've been out of high school for 5 years!!! WOW. Seems like just yesterday I was a senior counting down the days until graduation. *sigh*

More later...

11.30.2007

Finally Friday!

Welcome to Friday!

Whew. Boy am I glad it's here. Lots to do this weekend....working tonight in the ER (7p-7a) which means I'll spend all day Saturday sleeping and re-energizing. Sunday I work from noon-6pm. *sigh* Next week is dead week on campus (24 hour quiet time in the library and study areas on campus) and then the week after that is FINALS! Wow, seriously, I can't believe it.

Making some major changes in my life over the next few months. More to come on that later. *wink*

Naptime!

11.26.2007

On my mind...

Whew! I've got so much stuff on my mind lately! Where do I begin? Let's see here...

I should have checked my email before I left for school this morning. I got to class at 8:15 ready to go, laptop set up, cell phone set to silent and my bottle of water was nice and cold. There was another guy in the room with me. We noticed that ay 8:25 nobody else was in class. So, we're thinking, maybe they switched our class to another room or something because our room was really cold, so I checked my school email....class was cancelled. My professor was stuck in the Boston airport and we wouldn't be having class today. Great! My next class wasn't until 10:30. I could have slept in longer!!!

So, once I read that I scrolled down to check some emails....there's one that the OU History department sent out about a history fellowship in New York City this summer for a month doing some American History research. What a fantastic opportunity! I'm definitely going to apply for it. I mean, the worse case scenerio is they tell me no, right? The fellowship covers everything! Transportation to and from New York City, living expenses, tuition, books, etc. PLUS you get $2,500 misc for other stuff. That's a pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

Jason and I went out last night to see Beowulf. I'm not going to lie, I just wasn't that excited about it. I didn't enjoy reading the poem in high school. (Shh! Don't tell Kim Walker, my friend majoring in Secondary English Education) The movie is digital (I didn't know that!). It's not as cartoonish as Shrek, but it's that same digital animation. Let me say this, the antagionist, Grendel is terrifying looking. Seriously, I jumped a few times. SUPER scary! We ended up leaving after Beowulf slayed Grendel, but before he killed Grendel's mother and the dragon.

Then, today I went to my art history class. I think I would really enjoy the class more if it wasn't for my teacher. This woman is seriously dumber than a bag of rocks. We're talking about Picasso today and how his work is the early 1900's. She says, "What else was happening in the early 1900's? Like....1912?" I'm sure she was talking about World War I, even though everyone knows that The Great War didn't start until 1914. So, she answers her own question, "World War One. You probably don't know much about World War I as you do about World War II becuase of the holocaust and stuff, it doesn't matter though, World War I wasn't that important." Wait wait WAIT! World War I isn't that important? Are you out of your freakin mind!?!?! They don't call it the Great War for nothing! 9.9 million people died and Europe was destroyed. DESTROYED!

This same teacher also said that Marie Antoinette was loved by the French when we were discussing French art. Umm, Marie Antoinette was hated. First because she was Austrian. Secondly because she spent tax money on fancy clothes, and elaborate things. If she was that well liked then why did she go to the guillotine?

*sigh* Some people...

11.24.2007

It's about that time...

Family Christmas pictures! While my aunt and uncle were here for Thanksgiving, we had them take some family pictures for us. We decided to sport our college pride this year. My poor dad...the only Husker in a family of Sooners. (Don't feel too sorry for him though, he likes it!)

By this big tree in our backyard...
Down by our creek...
My dad decided to crawl into the culvert, so us girls hopped on top of it.
On the rocks...
By the creek again...

My mom let me borrow her white hoodie becuase mine was in the washing machine. (Thanks mom!)

11.21.2007

Christmas time!

I couldn't resist! I need a Christmas blog! I found this darling photo on flickr and just had to use it. Isn't that tree simply precious?!?!

I want a pink Christmas tree!

Oh! And I went out with Jason last night....fun times!

You just HAVE to see this...

Someone sent this to me and I just about died! So, I had to make one for my family... (from L to R: my mom, me, my dad, my sister)

You can make one for your own family too!

11.20.2007

Thanksgiving update...

SO frustrating! I had a great post all typed out and then I lost it all!!! Don't you just hate when that happens?

Let's see if I can remember what all I had typed out here...

Thanksgiving break is finally here. Horray! I'm in need of some serious relaxation. In the past 3 days I've worked in the ER about 30 hours. I'm dead tired. Plus, in the midst of the ER, I had to write an 8 page paper for my history class. I'm exhausted, let me tell ya.

I've got family coming in town for Thanksgiving. Oh! And on Thanksgiving night Kara and I are going to see 2am at the Belle Isle Brewery. It'll be nice to exacpe the family craziness and go listen to one of our favorite bands for a couple of hours.

I'm looking forward to working at the Paper Crown over the break. I'm totally in the mood to create. I need to get working on my holiday cards! I know it'll be here before I know it.

The dating scene is looking decent. I've got a few good prospects for dates this upcoming week. Coffee, drinks, dinner...we'll just see what happens. I've got such low expectations right now....I'm just taking things at face value and trying not to read into actions and words.

Lunch time! Then off to the Crown!

11.17.2007

Wel I've never been to heaven, but I've been to Oklahoma...

Have you heard "Never Been To Spain"? It's such a great song....download it.

I'm working in the ER tonight....7p-7a. I'm usually good until about 3am, then the sleepy bug hits me and I'm dead to the world. Ha ha. Lucky for me I've got a major paper to write, so that should keep me somewhat occupied. Then I get off work at 7am on Sunday and I have to be back at work at noon. Isn't that crazy?

I'm dissappointed that I won't get to watch the OU game tonight. It should be a good game...against Texas Tech I believe.

The dating situation is still developing....a friend, Michael wants to grab coffee sometime next week and another fella, Randy wants to go out for drinks. I'll probably go...what have I got to lose, right?

The centennial concert last night was pretty good. The sound was terrible though. Carrie Underwood was fantastic. The All American Rejects were probably the best. The Flaming Lips were great too. I was dissappointed that Garth Brooks didn't sing. Reba sang about 3 songs, Vince Gill sang 2 or 3, Amy Grant sang 1. There were lots of other performances and stuff too. There were lots of old people sitting around us, so when the All American Rejects came out and when the Flaming Lips came out my sister and I went crazy, screaming and stuff. This old guy sitting in front of us turned around and "shhh"-ed us. Excuse me...this is a centennial concert. That's what you do at a concert, you sing and scream. Obvously he was so old that he didn't know proper concert etiquette.

Gotta finish my paper...

11.16.2007

...you know that you've been on my mind....

More from Hanson's "The Walk" tour.

Zac and Taylor

Taylor Hanson....*drools* I've loved him since I was like...13 years old.
My most favorite, Isaac. The concert was originally scheduled for October 3rd, but Isaac was hospitalized for a pulmonary embolism and had to undergo emergency surgery. We're so glad he's back!

Pictures....

Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa is seriously one of the coolest venues I've ever been in. It's got wood floors that have springs underneath them. PERFECT if you're a jumper.

I've got the tickets!
Me and Kara, my Hanson concert friend!
Part of the concert

New Music

I've been on the hunt for some new music lately. Here's a few of my favorites...

2am http://www.myspace.com/2amband - They're from OKC!
Ingram Hill http://www.myspace.com/ingramhill
Shiny Toy Guns *Note: guns are not toys* http://www.myspace.com/shinytoyguns

I still can't get over the Hanson concert. They played "Lost Without Each Other". This isn't from the Tulsa concert, but they basically played the music and the fans sang the entire song. SO freakin cool. I've been to lots of concerts, but there is nothing like a Hanson concert...the fans just don't stop. They're always jumping, dancing, wavig their arms, etc. For the ENTIRE 2 hour show. Hanson puts on a very high energy show....it's the best. Want to see? http://youtube.com/watch?v=uIZeOD80_XU

Pictures will be posted today of the Hanson concert....I promise!

11.15.2007

Oklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plains.....

Oklahoma's Centennial is this weekend! I am so excited. We're going to the "Centennial Specatcular" tomorrow night. It going to be amazing....Garth Brooks, Reba, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Carrie Underwood, The Flaming Lips. I don't listen to much country music, but I'm really looking forward to this. My mom, sister and I are all going, and it's going to be great. Tomorrow is Statehood Day, and there's no school!

Today as I'm pulling into school there were fire trucks all around Sarkeys and students and faculty standing outside. The fire alarms were going off and everything. I'm not sure if there was a fire, or if someone was just trying to be funny and pulled the alarm. Either way, we didn't have class. Sweet. I've got a 5-8 page paper due on Monday and I'm not looking forward to writing it.

Okay....off to work!

11.14.2007

not what I thought...

Boys are just so.....ugh....darn confusing. I had a date last week....it went great. We really hit it off. He told his best friend Chris (who is my best friend's boyfriend) that he really liked me and there would definitely be a second date. We've texted a lot, and talked on the phone Monday and tonight...but no mention of another date. He told Chris that he really liked me because I'm intelligent and not like other girls. I know he's a big hunter and deer season opens this weekend....but I really want to send him a text or something saying "I'm not really sure what you're looking for, but I want to let you know that I really like you" but I think that would put pressure on him, so I'm definitely not going to do that. I'm just really unclear on where we stand.

My life isn't anywhere where I thought it would be at this point in my life. I turn 23 next month. My friends are getting married, graduating college and starting their lives. I'm still in college (I changed my major last fall) and I'll graduate next December and I'm single. I know that 23 is still young and I've got my whole life ahead of me, but I know how happy I was when I was in a relationship. I loved being someones girlfriend. But the last thing I want is to rush into something or have a rebound and then regretting it. I just want to find a good guy. Is that so bad?

11.13.2007

Short, but to the point....

Don't you just hate it how one person's bad attitude can ruin your day?

11.12.2007

Short little bit

The concert was amazing. I'm constantly amazed how bands can go on tour and put on a phenomenal show night after night. Such talent! Hanson played for about 2 hours and played about 23-25 songs. *Kara wrote down the set list* I took lots of pictures and I'll post them later tonight once I get home.

11.07.2007

School, life and looking for an outfit for my HOT date!

Hi there.

Goodness it's cold! Seriously, where did this come from? It's 33 degrees outside this morning! I'm not liking this one bit.

I ran to Wal-Mart with Leslie last night. Do you know how long its been since I've been to Wal-Mart? Ages. I got some makeup and some stuff for a class I might do at the Paper Crown next month. We'll see. It's in the brainstorming stages right now.

I have a date tomorrow night and I'm looking forward to it. From what my friends have told me about him he seems like a good guy. We've talked on the phone several times and he's really nice. So, hopefully we'll go out tomorrow and that will go good. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
Plus, with a date, you know that means I have to go shopping and find something super cute to wear. Have you seen the Simply Vera line by Vera Wang at Kohls? SUPER cute I tell ya.

Everyone's getting ready for Silver Bella. I'm so jealous. I want to go so bad. Why did my professors have to get together and plot tests on Thursday and Friday this week? Why am I on call this weekend? Why? Why? Why? *Okay, enough whining now!*

Alright, I have a test I should be studying for so I must run. Peace out sistas!

11.06.2007

Bad blogger!

I'm sorry. I've been a bad blogger. I've been putting in lots of hours at the hospital, they keep calling me in. I don't mind because they pay me really well, but sometimes it's kinda incovenient with school and the Paper Crown.

School is good. Works is good. Dating is.....blah....but there's a good prospect in my future. *wink*

Off to study....I've got 2 tests this week!

10.31.2007

Change of plans...

In addition to working at the Paper Crown this afternoon, I recently found out that I'll be working in the ER tonight. Let's just hope that I don't get stuck with the crazies tonight. I'll be looking extra spooky in my black scrubs and black thermal shirt (since it's chilly)!

I'm so sad that I don't get to see the Trick-or-Treaters. :-(

Hopefully I won't have any gruesome stories to share about my Halloween in the ER. Did you guys see Grey's last Thursday? The chainsaw guy?!?! *shudders* That's so gross!

Happy Haunting!

Don't you just looooove Halloween? Seriously, I do! I loved it as a kid, I always had the BEST costumes becuase my mom is an amazing seamstress. Let's see, I was a clown, a tube of toothpaste (I won every costume contest that year) I was a doctor, Pocahantis, a princess, a 50's girl. SO much fun dressing up for a night!

Now that I'm older I still love Halloween and I love passing out cnady and seeing all the kiddos in their darling little costumes. Skunks, Princesses, Woody, Snow White, Tinkerbell, and a Monkey just to name a few that I know will be visiting my house this year. I plan on taking pictures of them all!

I could really go for a pumpkin cookie right about now and a mug of cider. Yum!

Keeping with the holiday theme, I changed my blog around. I found the picture of the 3 darling pumpkins of Flicker and I forgot who it belonged to, so if it's yours, I'm sorry! Email me and I'll give you all the credit. I'm madly in love with white pumpkins this year! There's just something about them that I'm loving!

10.30.2007

Oh Happy Day!

I'm baaa-ck! I didn't really go anywhere, but I've been busy this past week! I worked in the ER almost every evening last week, had family in town, school, advisement, enrollment, blah, blah.

But I'm back now so that's all that counts, right? I'm working at The Paper Crown every afternoon this week and *gasp* I'm teaching a class! It's a layout class. You'll complete 6 12x12 layouts using some of the yummiest paper. It's been a while since I've done a class...I hope I've still got it.

On another note, today is my parent's anniversary! So, happy anniversary Mom & Dad!!! This is an old picture from last Christmas, but it's my favorite picture of the two of them. They've been married 26 or 27 years....I can't remember. Aren't they so stinkin cute?

10.23.2007

Bless His Heart...

Look at this poor kid. He's just the cutest little thing. Poor little guy...

10.22.2007

*yawn* Morning....

Brrr. Wow. We're experiencing quite a cold front today. Brr! It's not even supposed to get up to 50 degrees today. Brr! I can't handle this cold. My hands are dry....noooooo!!! Brrrrrr!!!

Work yesterday was out of control. We were SO busy! The ER waiting room was overflowing with sick, coughing people with lots of germs and cooties. *whew* I am so glad I don't deal directly with the patients. YUCK! I have to work this afternoon from 3-5 for disaster training. I have to get it done before the end of the year...and they're doing a training today. I'm not looking forward to it, but I'm getting paid to do it, so I'll quit whining about it now.

I'm hungry. I was running late today and I didn't have time to grab a fiber bar. So, now I'm hungry. I should keep a fiber bar in my car for emergencies such as this. *sigh* Once again, sorry for whining.

Hi ho hi ho it's off to work I go....

I've got to work today so that means no fun for me. Boo. I'm working in the ER from 1p-7p so it's only 6 hours...not too bad. I've got lots of pictures from my little family tailgate party we had yesterday for the OU/Iowa State game. Lots of fun. Plus I hit a garage sale yesterday and found a little treasure. I'll post a picture of that if I have time to tonight.

I'm working on a research paper about marriage, divorce and property rights in 19th century Europe. I found so much great material to read for my paper. I'm at the point where I think I have almost too much material and I need to start narrowing it down which is going to be hard.

Off to work! Have a fantastic day!

My World

Welcome to my world. Like I've mentioned before, I've kinda been attempting to redecorate my room. I'm going for a more shabby feel. I'm wanting to get rid of this big oversized desk and simplify with a small table just big enough for my laptop and printer. I've got a shabby little bitdhouse and hot air balloon on my desk. The banner on the wall says "create". I didn't realize how messy my desk looked until I just uploaded this picture....hm...I guess I should tidy up a bit, don'tcha think?

My cedar chest was a gift 5 years ago for my high school graduation. The window was made at a class I took at The Paper Crown before I started working there. It's SO yummy. The masterful Kim Haynes taught it and she is such a sweetie.

My little bed. I love haing a twin bed. It's the perfect size for me. The scroll above my window will be coming down this next week and will be replaced with a curtin/valance my mom is making. Can't wait! The quilt is a Rachel Ashwell piece from Target.

Two of my most favorite things right now. First off, I can not live without my Olay moisturizing lotion. It's a MUST have! My hands have been so terribly dry lately. Next is my gorgeous pink Razr. It's never far from me. I love the pale pink color too!

Some good reads. I'm writing a paper about dating, marriage and relationships in the 19th century for my Western Civilization class. My professor suggested I read these books and actually, I'm quite excited about reading them. (That's so nerdy isn't it?)

Thursday Ramblings

Hi there.

How's your Thursday? I'm loving this cooler weather. So nice! It's chilly in the morning and nice in the afternoons, simply delightful if you ask me.

So, I've got one person interested in a book swap. She suggested the cutest theme...it's a Vintage White Winter Wonderland Glittery Shabby Christmas. I need to get at least 2 more people and figure out the details and then we'll go ahead with it. I was thinking that everyone would get a book so each person would make 4 identical pages....sound good? Like I said, we'll work out details later.

Speaking of things I need to do....I still need to put my lampshade together from Corrine's 8 Shades of Friendship swap. It's been at least a month and I haven't even begun yet. Shame on me.

I've been doing lots of research lately on marriage and relationships in the 18th and 19th century for my Western Civilization class. Pretty interesting stuff....I'm just in the "information gathering" stage right now....pretty soon it will be the "paper writing" stage. Yikes!

Has anyone every painted a bulletin board? I have one and I started painting it tonight, Right now it looks not so good, but I'm thinking that with a few more coats of white paint it'll be decent looking. I'm excited to see how it's going to turn out. I'll definitely be posting pictures soon.

I've got another 2 hour break tomorrow between classes, so expect another update then while I'm listening to Glenn Beck streaming online. Sweetness.

My aunt and uncle are coming up tomorrow night and spending Saturday with us, we'll be watching the OU/Iowa State football game and you know I'll be cheering for my Sooners. At the age of 32, my uncle went to college and he went to Iowa State for his Vet school. He's now a kick ass veterinarian in Texas and LOVES it. Goes to show ya, you're never too old to do something if you set your mind to it.

I'm looking for a really inspiring quote to put in a frame....suggestions?

Gotta love wireless....

I love wireless internet on campus. It's seriously the best thing ever. I have a 2 hour break between classes (usually it's just 1 hour, but today my Human Geography professor is in Canada, so we don't have class) So, I'm sitting here listening to Glenn Beck and blogging....does it get any better than this? I think not. What would I do without my internet? I'm so glad we have wireless, that way I can look for some creative inspiration for two whole hours!!! I need to find a cute idea for a class to teach in November.

I put out the new stuff at the Paper Crown yesterday. It's SO yummy! I love it all. Doodlebug, Junkitz, Autumn Leaves, Daisy D's....*sigh* It's so delightful. I can't wait to see what I can come up with for a class.

I'm also really thinking about doing a round robin book. Anyone else interested in this? We'd have to come up with a theme, or something, but I've never done one, but I saw my friend Kim's book she did and it's pretty great. Any takers? Just email me or leave a comment....

Okay, I'm off to go blog hoppin' for some inspiration. Toodles!

What a weekend!

How about those Sooners? It was a pretty great game, don't ya think? I'm not gonna lie, when Mizzou was ahead 24-23 I was a bit nervous, but they pulled through and dominated yet again.

I tried to keep myself busy this weekend. Saturday was great since I worked at the store and then watched the football game. Today was harder. I ran a few errands with my mom and then I came home and cleaned my room. I'm re-deocrating in a shabby chic style. I talked to my mom and she's making me a curtain (valance?!). Not too sure what that is, window treatments are *so* not my thing. I'm hunting for a little table to use as a desk, something simple, I don't care if it has a drawer or not. Right now I have a decent sized desk (no drawers) but it holds so much stuff that I have so much junk on it now. I need to clean it up and simplify.

My aunt and uncle are coming up on Saturday. They're headed to South Dakota and Iowa to see family, so they're stopping by to spend the night and watch the OU and Nebraska football games. I'm so excited to see them. They're fab.

Off to bed....I've got class at 8:30 and then I'm working at the store from 3-6, come see me.

So blessed

Hello friends. I hope your Saturday is simply delicious. Mine has been pretty great, I've been working at the store all day and scrapping. *sigh* It so wonderful to be able to think about nothing but paper, buttons, adhevsives, and ribbon all day and just create. I love getting lost in the process of creating and being able to forget about school, the break up, and other stressers in my life. ART thearpy is the best!

This past week I've realied how truly blessed I am. I've got amazing friends and family who care about me. I've got classmates who help me with notes and assignments when it's just too hard to make it to school and professors who make special accommodations for you when you're having a rough day. And most importantly, I've got co-workers "sistas" who lent me a shoulder to cry on when I needed them the most. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Okay, I'm off to get a few things done around here and watch my Sooners!

Confused in Love

Waking up this morning, thinking this can't be real,
But they say there is nothing love can't heal.
Why don't you come on down so you can feel, what I feel.
Sitting all alone in this place,
Even though we're here face to face,
There is nothing gone but there's something wrong.

Can't you see, that I'm stuck here, underneath-
And you're making it hard to breathe
Take a look around and tell me what you see,
You'll find me--Underneath

I know what to say but don't know where to begin,
I fear I'm losing you beneath my skin.
Is there a solution for this pain, that I'm in
Sitting all alone in this place
Even though we're here face to face
There is nothing gone, but there's something wrong

Can't you see, that I'm stuck here, underneath-
And you're making it hard to breathe,
Take a look around and tell me what you see,
You'll find me---Underneath

If only you could feel what I dream,
Maybe you could hear what I mean,
There is nothing gone but there's something missing

I'm empty. There's something wrong. I feel distance between me and Josh. I don't know why. He says everything is fine, but I know it's not. There's something different. I spent the majority of yesterday crying and dealing with this. Love is not simple.

Happy Sunday!

Don't you just love Sundays? I do. It's a time to recap and reflect on the past week. My little sister turned 21 on Tuesday. Gosh! I feel so old! It's so weird to think that I'll be 23 in 2 months! When I was younger 23 was the magic number for me for some odd reason. I thought everything happened when you're 23, you get married and stuff like that. (The only reason I thought that was because two people I knew got married when they were 23, so that meant that everyone got married at 23, right?) Anyway, it's so weird to *almost* be 23 and see where my life is at this point. I'm in college, I have a fantastic boyfriend, my family is amazing, I have great friends and a good job. I really want to travel. Since I'm going to be a history/geography teacher I feel that it's important for me to see the things I'll be teaching my students about. I want to see Rome, Florence, Pompeii, Greece, and Egypt (to name a few). To see these places that have been around for thousands of years is just amazing.

Okay, enough about that, let's see some pictures from her party! We went to The Mont in Norman.

Me and Josh. Doesn't he look handsome all dressed up?
My sister with her blueberry margarita. SO good! If you ever see it on the menu, get it. I promise you won't regret it.
How cute is she? Seriously?! Her roommate, Kierston, got her a Disney Princess strawberry cheesecake ice cream cake from Maggie Moo's. Can you say "yum"? (I think you can see the top of Cindarella's head in the corner)
This is our friend, Drew. He's a petroleum engineering major just like Whitney. Drew and I have Art History together and Drew's birthday was on Friday. He's too funny, his dad is the CEO of a MAJOR oil company and Drew just ordered a brand new BMW 5-series (I think that's what it's called) and he said, "I didn't tell my dad. I hope he doesn't see the $60,000 charge on the credit card bill." Must be nice, huh? *ha ha*

That's it! We're celebrating Whitney and Drew's birthday tonight again at The Elephant Bar. More pictures will come later!
Happy Sunday!

Decorating time!

I'm re-decorating my room I think. It's time to get it together. Right now my walls are not painted, and I've got crimson and sage green decorations. It's cute, but time for a change. I'm more of a shabby girl now, time to get the walls painted, and clean it up a bit. My mom makes gorgeous quilts, so I'm going to see if she'll make me a new quilt.

Give me a few weeks and we'll see where it stands.

I've been bitten...

by the crafting bug! FINALLY!! I've gotten out of my creative funk and I've been creating like a mad-woman! I blame it on the Melissa Francis line. It's all SO yummy!

First up, a picture frame embellished with vintage buttons and pearls. I need to put a picture in the frame, but you get the idea behind it. SO super cute.

This isn't quite done, but I'll give you a sneak peek! It's a canvas and the My Mind's Eye line. I need to dig around for my Twinkle Type letters (silver) and attach the word, HOME to the top and attach a ribbon so it can be hung.

Hello little birdie, want to come inside? This is my first ever birdhouse and like the canvas, it's not completely done yet. I have yet to embellish it, but it's going to be as cute as can be! I'm so excited to see where I go with this....

And finally, what kind of fan would I be if I didn't wish my SOONERS good luck against Texas tomorrow? (Beevo sandwich, anyone?) BOOMER SOONER!!!
